House is seen in the middle of an avenue built in residential area in the city of Nanning, in the autonomous region of Guangxi Zhuang, China.

As the owner of the house refused to make a deal with the authorities to expropriate the property, construction began anyway. Chinese law prevents the demolition of a property without an agreement.

Typically, residents refuse to budge because they consider inadequate financial compensation. The house was part of a village that was moved in the late 1990. Without an agreement, the house was left in the road.

A spokesman of the urban development department of Nanning said that the requirement of the owners does not fit the remuneration policy and that the parties are still negotiating.

For impasse account, residents are forced to divert their cars because the house obstructs passage.
